Richard Deo Daugherty was born March, 1922, at Aberdeen, Washington. He completing high school in Aberdeen, attended Central Washington College of Education at Ellensburg, Wa., and the University of Washington in Seattle, from which he received his doctor's degree in anthropology. In 1950 he began employment at Washington State College in Pullman, which he continued until retirement in 1985.
